About Us

The Hopkins business was first established 50 years ago in May 1972. It was founded by Bill Hopkins, who is still running the company as Managing Director to this very day. Bill is supported by his son Nathan who joined the business over 25 years ago. Keeping it in the family, Bill’s Grandson / Nathan’s son Toby recently joined the company after completing his agricultural studies with both his other children daughter Evie and son Sam being involved with the business.

The business has a diverse assortment of interests, including property development, arable farming and sheep farming, and an extensive portfolio of residential, retail and commercial properties across Somerset and Dorset.

The Hopkins Estates property development team are a forward-thinking team whose focus is on producing desirable bespoke energy-efficient homes, built to exacting standards by a group of experienced time-served tradespeople.

On the agricultural side of the business, Hopkins Estates farms over 4,000+ acres of arable land and have recently purchased two more farms in the area, "Woodhouse Farm" in Rimpton and "Higher Farm" in Podimore, Somerset. Our estate is managed by our dedicated and experienced team. The whole operation is managed and run in-house to ensure the highest standards are achieved. The business also has a purpose-built grain store and drying facility that can accommodate 15,000 tonnes of crop storage. Additional to the arable farming operation, Hopkins Estates has in excess of 1,200 breeding ewes. This is again managed in-house by our own professional shepherds.

The company’s property portfolio extends from residential flats right through to large industrial units and purpose-built supermarket premises across Somerset and Dorset counties.
